About Physics (AL)

Physics is one of the most important subjects in the Sri Lankan A/L Physical Science stream. It forms the foundation for engineering, medicine, and technology degrees at Sri Lankan universities. The subject covers fundamental laws of nature from Newtonian mechanics to quantum physics, requiring both conceptual understanding and strong mathematical problem-solving skills.

What You Study in Physics

  • Classical Mechanics — motion, forces, energy, and momentum
  • Thermal Physics — heat, temperature, thermodynamics
  • Waves and Oscillations — sound, light, electromagnetic waves
